How important is your appearance in interviews?
At Vic Careers we know that having the right qualifications and competencies to do the job well are perhaps the most important factors in securing the job you want. However, making a good impression and how you look will play a part in the recruiting team’s decision making. Looking professional and taking care over what you choose to wear for the interview is part of your preparation.
It seems also that, for women, wearing makeup can play a part. A recent survey suggests that women who wear makeup are seen to be more competent, amiable and trustworthy – and likely to get ahead in the workplace. I am a bit sceptical as the research was commissioned by a beauty product brand but it does throw up some interesting points. Take a look at the article on Stuff and see what you think. I might just invest in some new foundation to smooth out the wrinkles!
